Jake Paul and other American millionaires find a way to bypass Puerto Rico's public beach laws.
In recent news, Jake Paul, controversial YouTuber, Fighter, and ex-Disney star has recently completed the purchase of a 16 million dollar Mansion from Major League Puerto Rican baseball player Yadier Molina in Derado Puerto Rico. This has spurred much controversy because now rich celebrities and business tycoons in these wealthy beachfront communities are now bypassing Puerto Rican laws by closing beaches with construction and man-made natural barriers, keeping locals from accessing them.
All beaches under Puerto Rican law are required to give access to all citizens to enjoy, no matter what private property reside by them. Particularly in Logan’s case, these man-made and other natural barriers around his new beachfront property are preventing locals from easily accessing the beach behind his multimillion-dollar estate by making them walk over a mile around through rocks and other obstacles to access the beach area.
After the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, economic strife has plagued the Island spurring an influx of wealthy millionaires and billionaires to the island. U.S. citizens get to enjoy the advantages of voting for U.S. representation, unlike Puerto Rican natives who have been living on the island for decades. The recent land power grab by American oligarchs and wealthy celebrities has given the island much more positive attention but at the cost of losing the island’s culture and sovereignty in making its own financial decisions pertaining to its local population.
